A Historic Premiere: Starting February 13, MARe Presents Part of Its International Contemporary Art Collection
Bucharest, February 12, 2025 – Starting February 13, MARe / The Museum of Recent Art will present, for the first time, a selection from its international contemporary art collection, featuring over 50 artists from 20 countries, including Giorgio de Chirico, Lucio Fontana, Antony Gormley, Bridget Riley, and Richard Serra—artists whose works are part of major museum collections such as MoMA, Tate, and Pompidou
The exhibition will be open to the public from February 13 to May 25, and tickets can be purchased via www.mare.ro.

Curated by Dr. Flavia Frigeri and Ioana Iuna Șerban, All Our Todays showcases, for the first time, over 60 works from the museum’s international contemporary art collection. The exhibition explores the dialogue between figurative and abstract art, inviting the audience to discover the diverse ways in which international artists have represented the idea of contemporaneity through their personal experiences and unique perspectives on the world.

Regarding All Our Todays, co-curator Dr. Flavia Frigeri explains:
“The exhibition is structured around thematic constellations, oscillating between abstract and figurative, helping viewers understand the multiple paths artists have taken in exploring the self and the essence of art. Color, form, and subject representation are essential in this exhibition, which invites a deep emotional engagement with the works on display.”
“All Our Todays marks a historic premiere at the Museum of Recent Art, bringing together over 60 international postwar artworks, all from the museum’s collection. The artists featured in the exhibition have played a crucial role in defining contemporary art, exploring the relationship between personal identity and the outside world. This exhibition is an invitation to rediscover contemporary art through vibrant colors, bold shapes, and captivating contrasts between figurative and abstract.” — Ioana Iuna Șerban, co-curator of the exhibition.

The exhibition’s first week will feature two guided tours open to the public, where the curators will provide insights into the exhibited works. The first tour, in English, will be led by Dr. Flavia Frigeri on February 13, while the second tour, on February 14, will be conducted by Ioana Iuna Șerban. These cultural-social initiatives will continue throughout the exhibition.
