22nd of July, 2021, Sibiu, Romania – One of the Romanian cities declared a capital culture in Europe is ready to open “its gates” this July for another edition of Feeric Fashion Week, the greatest fashion event from Eastern Europe.
For the upcoming next days until 25th of July, Sibiu will transform istelf into a huge, international catwalk and become a capital of fashion as guests from around the world are waited to join the event or showcase their newest collections all around the city.
The festival will be opened with a welcome party gala hosted by Landiana, the festival vice-president, which aims to highlight the motto of the entire event: “Make simplicity great again!” The motto is itself an invitation to sustainabity, fashion consciousness and a greater care and love for the environment.
The fashion shows will start on July 22, at 1 pm, with an unconventional show in the center of the Apoldu de Jos village, in a traditional Transylvanian atmosphere. Apoldist, the brand that will open this year’s festival, proposes a new fashion ethic, offering customers a sustainable experience that involves discounts on pieces from the collection in exchange for old clothes, which will later be recycled and put back into use.
From the center of the village, Feeric Fashion Week then moves to the nearby forest, for the presentation at 3 pm given by Hooldra, in a larger project initiated with the Humane Society International and which aims to eliminate furs from the fashion industry. Hooldra is an upcycled clothing brand, clothing items passed through the hands of artists who bring them back to life before being put up for sale again. The concept of the entire brand fits perfectly with the international message that Humane Society International wants to send: “no fur in fashion”. “The partnership between Feeric Fashion Week and Humane Society International is a proof that the Romanian fashion world says NO to furs, as many designers have already done.
These alliances between NGOs and fashion leaders are happening all over Europe and we are glad to have a strong, common voice in Romania as well. HSI is with Romanian designers in trying to stop the use of fashionable furs and to have a responsible industry, based on ethics “,says Andreea Roseti, director of Humane Society International in Romania.
The last show on Thursday brings the guests to the old center of Sibiu, on Cetății Street, where the catwalk that connects the Potters’ Tower to the Carpenters’ Tower will be the presentation space of the new collection signed Bennu, a brand of luxury bags made of vegan leather, made from scraps and fruit peels. Romanian designer Bianca Popp opens the second day of fashion shows with the presentation of the “Inner Diva” collection, a collection of dresses that we would wear on the red carpet of our dreams, on a holiday of lust or in a cruise, a collection made exclusively in black and white. Bianca Popp’s presentation will take place at 1 pm, in the parking lot on the second floor of Promenada Sibiu.
Then, at 5 pm, in the medieval setting of the Golden Square, the Ramelle brand presents the “I am unique” collection, a collection full of color and harmony, with a minimalist design and architectural details transposed into feminine clothing creations. At the end of the presentation, guests will have the opportunity to visit another emblematic objective of the city of Sibiu, the Council Tower, where the Bisoulovely brand will present a collection of jewelry.
The third day of the festival ends at the height, on the top floor of the building under construction in the Station Square, probably the most beautiful panorama over the historic center of Sibiu. The presentation is supported by Alist Designers Boutique, a project initiated by Alist Magazine, which aims to support Romanian designers and will start at 9 pm. Respecting international trends, while maintaining local traditions and specificity, the creations of Romanian designers address to people who love fashion, art and who have the courage to reveal their spirit, supporting the innovation and talent of local producers.
The fashion shows during Feeric Fashion Week end on Saturday, with three other special events. At the Boromir Factory, Kreep Agency and Alexandru Floarea will present two unconventional collections. The New Talents by Kreep collection is stylized by Sebastian Felix Țopescu, fashion editor at MODIC Magazine and 33 Magazine, a recent graduate of the Istituto Europeo de Design in Milan and presents creations made by designers from the USA, Germany, Egypt, Belgium and Pakistan. New Talents by Kreep is followed by the presentation of the KIKIMRA collection signed by Alexandru Floarea, a collection inspired by the desolate image of New York during the ’70s and’ 80s, reflected in the photographs of the German artist Miron Zownir.
At 3 pm, in the lobby of the VIP salon at CineGold – Promenada Sibiu, the lingerie brand Sethei presents an introduction to what is to be a collection with elegant design lines and precious accents. At 5 pm, the last individual presentation takes place in this year’s edition, in Huet Square the last collection of the Blanche & Brownie brand will be presented. It is a playful collection, a “garden” collection that does not take into account age, inspired by all the reasons to be discovered during the lock-down.
The fashion shows during Feeric Fashion Week end on Saturday night, in Piața Mică, at the Feeric Gala, the grandiose final event of the Sibiu fashion week. 5 brands will present unique collections on the geometric catwalk that will be located in the space in front of the House of Arts, Lily of the Valley, Valentina Zeed by Olga Mihoc, Inessa Creations Monaco and Bisoulovely.
The Gala will also award the IED – European Institute of Design, an award that represents a free scholarship in Barcelona for one of the designers of this edition. The event will start at 9 pm.
“We have made an incredible effort to organize Feeric Fashion Week this tangled year and we are glad that we are the first major fashion event in the world to take place with spectators and international participation. Last year taught us many lessons, sustainability being the most important, therefore, this edition focuses on ethics in fashion, recycling, upcycling and responsibility. At the same time, I think we have prepared one of the most exciting and beautiful editions of recent years, with some really surprising scenarios, shows and locations “, says Mitichi, president of Feeric Fashion Week.
Feeric Fashion Week takes place between July 21 and 25, in Sibiu. The event is co-financed by the Sibiu Local Council through the Sibiu City Hall and by the Sibiu County Council.
