The Caribbean at MIAFW

Miami Fashion Week

Jenny Polanco’s Caribbean Legacy Takes the Runway at MIAFW [Miami Fashion Week]

At Mr. C Miami Coconut Grove, the Dominican fashion house presented a vibrant collection shaped by relaxed tailoring, fluid silhouettes and the colors of the Caribbean.

Coconut Grove became a meeting point for fashion and Caribbean heritage on Thursday, October 15, as the house of Jenny Polanco presented its collection during Miami Fashion Week’s 2026 anniversary edition. The show took place at Mr. C Miami Coconut Grove as part of the week’s runway program.

The collection moved between crisp white, soft blush, vivid pink, fuchsia and saturated red, with beige and natural tones adding contrast. Coordinated separates brought an easy, polished feel to the presentation: relaxed trousers appeared with sleeveless and short-sleeved tops, while fluid dresses offered a softer, more dramatic line. The looks balanced clean, simple shapes with striking color, allowing each outfit to make its impression through silhouette and movement.

The collection’s aesthetic feels especially relevant in Miami, where resort wear, vibrant color and relaxed elegance are part of the city’s fashion identity. That natural alignment made Miami a fitting setting for the presentation and a valuable marketing platform for the brand—one that could introduce Jenny Polanco’s Caribbean heritage to an audience already attuned to its style.

Founded in the Dominican Republic in 1979, Jenny Polanco built a design language around her home country and the wider Caribbean. Linen, amber and artisanal details are central to the brand’s identity, alongside versatile silhouettes made for warm climates. The fashion house describes its work as a tribute to Dominican craftsmanship and culture.

The presentation also carried the significance of Jenny Polanco’s enduring legacy. The designer died in 2020, and the fashion house continues her work, preserving its founder’s creative spirit and Dominican identity. The brand says its collections draw inspiration from art, music, everyday life and the craft traditions of the region.

As MIAFW marked its anniversary edition, Jenny Polanco’s show brought a distinctive Caribbean perspective to the program. Its palette, fluid shapes and relaxed tailoring reflected a vision of resort wear that feels both polished and connected to its roots.
