MBBFW takes the Fashion Week scene

NISSA MBBFW

The Second Edition of Mercedes-Benz Bucharest Fashion Week – MBBFW – Enjoyed International Success

Following the triumph of the first edition of MBBFW, it was expected that the second edition would surpass it in every way—ranging from events to the number of participants and international echoes.
The event, once again, focused on three central pillars: fashion, sustainability, and education.

Roxana Voloșeniuc, the founder of the event, shares: “We are very happy that we are increasingly taken seriously on the international stage and that we are achieving our goal of making the ‘Made in Romania’ label a symbol that attracts more and more buyers and key figures from the international scene.

With the introduction of the Next Generation program in this edition, we aim to nurture future participants of MBBFW and become a natural presence on runways around the world” adds Mario Antico, co-founder of MBBFW.

Most of the MBBFW fashion presentations took place in the Main Hall of the National Museum of Art of Romania (MNAR), but other locations were also included as event spaces.

The debut of this edition was marked by the ALMAZ brand at the Nicodim Gallery. A stunning theatrical show, with splendid symbolism, it speaks about faith in a world full of chaos and discord.

On the first day, NISSA showcased its Fall/Winter 25 collection “Beneath the Blink,” where each piece is designed to evoke a sense of movement and subtlety, with silhouettes that embrace the natural shape of the body, allowing moments of intrigue and discretion.

A unique moment of this edition was the collaboration between Italian designer Tiziano Guardini and the National Opera of Bucharest, supported by the National Chamber of Italian Fashion (CNMI). In this collaboration, dancers wore his sustainable creations in a special performance that combined performing arts with responsible fashion. In this context, Italian institutions – the Embassy of Italy in Bucharest, ITA – Italian Trade Agency, the Italian Cultural Institute, and partner association Confindustria Romania – reaffirmed their support for Mercedes-Benz Bucharest Fashion Week, which actively contributes to strengthening cultural and economic relations between Italy and Romania.

The second day of MBBFW brought collections from Romania and the region to MNAR. LITKOVSKA presented its Fall/Winter 25 collection, shown at Paris Fashion Week, “3 a.m. – traverse,” featuring the brand’s recognizable deconstructions, now with new depth.

Rhea Costa unveiled her Fall/Winter 2026 collection, exploring sculptural draping, bold silhouettes, and updated sensuality.

The Fall/Winter 25 collection by Ukrainian artist Ksenia Schnaider continues to be inspired by Bjork’s iconic song “Army of Me,” channeling key themes of self-confidence and resilience, blending subtle military tones with utilitarian aesthetics and recycled denim, maintaining her commitment to denim upcycling.

The MEDEEA FW25 collection is a manifesto that redefines elegance under new coordinates, where deconstruction and reconstruction of patterns are reflected in the fluid yet brutalist design of the pieces.

Carmen Secareanu returned to MBBFW with a restrained extravagance in minimalism, yet recognizable in the signature of a new winter collection, where tradition and the unexpected harmonize in a surprising way.

The inspiration behind the OK KINO collection lies in the photographs of Zaharia Cușnir, capturing rural life in Moldova in a way that feels both distant and familiar. The collection is built on wool, silk, and cotton—rich materials in both touch and tradition.

Romeo Gigli’s FW 25-26 collection, “La Donna dalla Pelle di Velluto,” demonstrates elegance suspended between structure and ease, between masculine and feminine. Hitchcock’s muses intertwine with Paul Verlaine’s decadent imagery, dissolving gender boundaries and subverting traditional patterns.

Ana Radu presented her latest collection of Black Dresses—an ode to timeless elegance, refinement, and bold femininity.

This collection reinvents the classic black dress with modern silhouettes, luxurious fabrics, and refined craftsmanship, while the new Ami Amalia collection is built on premium fabrics, designs that blur the line between retro and contemporary, and sustainable in-house production.

RXQUETTE FW 2025 “ROMANCE UNDONE” merges 90s minimalism with defined cuts, luxurious textures, and meticulously measured details. Victorian romance hums beneath whispered lace and cascading jabots. High collars and rows of buttons act as guardians of discrete seduction, suggesting unrest beneath the surface.

Kata Szegedi’s Fall 2025 collection focused on wool and denim, their relationship with different textures. The creation of collage-like looks designed to transition from day to night. Cut-out textures, architectural silhouettes, and iconic streetwear pieces merge.

M.Marquise, the renowned Romanian brand known for its refined couture craftsmanship, unveils its Fall/Winter 25/26 collection, a demonstration of timeless elegance and bold femininity, redefining strength and refinement with commanding silhouettes and statement pieces.

The FW25/26 collection from Diana Milkanova Studio is a deeply personal exploration of form, texture, and cultural identity, inspired by how Diana perceives the world—lines, contrasts, and materials reflect her childhood fascination with sculpture and her passion for creating pieces that empower and transform.

Alexandra Șipa’s FW25 collection further explores previous lace manipulation techniques within the context of the brand’s personal interpretation of Romanian history, from medieval influences to echoes of Romania’s rave scene.

MURMUR represents a reconnection with femininity and sensuality through a new pret-a-porter collection. The feminine look of 50s women, vintage lingerie forms, are translated into modern fashion with refined evolution.

Svitlana demonstrates through her collection how BEVZA pieces can be worn every day while maintaining timeless elegance and sophistication. As a modern woman balancing the roles of mother and business leader, she inspires women to embrace a chic, versatile wardrobe rooted in refinement and individuality.

Alchemy’s Fall/Winter ’25 collection by VOL – Vestiaire d’un Oiseau Libre – conveys the timeless dance between light and shadow, masculine and feminine. Inspired by the mystical art of alchemy, where contrasts unite, each piece reflects the transformation of dualities into harmony, in a captivating black-and-white palette.

With that being seen, said and done, Mercedes-Benz Bucharest Fashion Week (MBBFW) has firmly established itself as a prominent force on the international fashion scene, marking a pivotal moment for Romanian fashion and setting a new standard for the entire Eastern European region. With its continued growth and innovation, the future holds even greater promise …and the best is yet to come!
