FM24: Sacha, you have a new TV series “Astrid et Raphaëlle” that was released on December 1st in France?
Sacha Tarantovich: Yes, I was a guest on an episode. It’s really exciting but at the same time, quite stressful. You have to integrate with a team that’s already in their 4th season. Everyone knows each other, they have their ways, and there you are, right in the middle! But it’s amazing! Life gives you gifts because you always meet people who are as passionate as you, including many I’ve worked with for years…
FM24: Your character? Can you tell us a bit about her?
Sacha: She’s a woman with a very strong and determined character. She’s a former world chess champion. A few years ago, she stopped playing and became her brother’s trainer. During the world championship, my brother is murdered. The police starts investigating, and she becomes a suspect. I adore my character; she’s tough! Her background makes her incredible.
FM24: How was the audition process for you? Do you remember it?
Sacha: Oh yes, I believe every actor remembers all their auditions. Nowadays, I do a lot of self-tape auditions. My agent sent me a scene to record at home. I remember asking a friend of mine to read the lines with me, and he didn’t speak French. I wrote his lines in phonetic script. We managed quite well: I was chosen! I keep all my audition tapes on my computer. It’s fascinating to see the director’s transformation of the role later.
FM24: Did you know your co-stars before the series?
Sacha: No, I met Benoît Michel, Lola Dewaere, and Sara Mortensen directly on set! But they were incredibly welcoming, as was the entire team! It was my first time working with director Corinne Bergas. It was a pure joy to work with her! At the end of shooting, she told me she had chosen me and was very pleased. It inspires you to surpass yourself! I also had a great connection with actress Sophia Yamna. We had no scenes together, but we always saw each other at makeup or lunch. We’ve become friends in real life. I also met people I had worked with on other series and even a photo shoot 13 years ago!
FM24: What kind of role would you like to play?
Sacha: Oh, I really want a role that involves physical training. I love challenges. It’s super exciting. Something with fight scenes or boxing training, for example. It must be impressive to achieve a specific physical form for filming. I once had combat training for action scenes. It’s so precise and demanding. I loved it. I understand better now how actors prepare physically for months when I watch their interviews.
FM24: How do you dress when you go to filming? Is it important to you?
Sacha: I love to be stylish. I’m really addicted to clothes. Even if it’s for a shoot and even if it’s completely in my whatever style, I’ll usually wear Ugg boots, wide pants with a large T-shirt, a large sweater, and to top it off, I might put on a super dressy jacket. I love mixing styles and colours. It’s practical and stylish at the same time. It also sets a good mood to start the day.
FM24: And your costumes for the show? Do you choose them?
Sacha: During my fittings, I always have a selection of clothes, styles, and colours. We always choose together with the costume designers, considering the character, her story, the scenes. We also make sure that the hairstyle is coherent. We choose all the details together. I love it. You build a whole life and everyday reality. It’s impressive.
