Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2027 edition, held from 3–7 August 2026, marked the event’s 20th anniversary and reinforced Copenhagen’s growing reputation as fashion’s unofficial “fifth city”. Across the week, designers moved beyond the minimalism traditionally associated with Scandinavian fashion, embracing colour, craft, cultural storytelling and experimentation, while Copenhagen’s sustainability requirements remained central to the event.
INSTITUTION – Zalando Visionary Award 2026
One of the week’s strongest shows came from INSTITUTION, founded by designer Galib Gassanoff and winner of the Zalando Visionary Award 2026. The prize recognises designers demonstrating excellence across design, innovation and social impact, with INSTITUTION receiving €50,000 alongside mentorship and business support.

Gassanoff presented his SS27 collection at Copenhagen’s Statens Museum for Kunst, transforming its central atrium with carpets originating from regions including the Caucasus, Anatolia and Central Asia. Drawing on his Georgian and Azerbaijani heritage, the collection celebrated traditional craftsmanship while translating it into a contemporary fashion language. Vogue described it as one of the season’s strongest shows, making the award winner a defining presence at CPHFW.
Collina Strada
New York label Collina Strada, Copenhagen Fashion Week’s inaugural international guest designer, provided another standout moment. Hillary Taymour created a special collection of one-off upcycled looks for Copenhagen, presented beside the city’s canals. Intricate weaving, pleated denim and handcrafted details demonstrated how sustainability can become a source of creativity rather than a restriction.
By Malene Birger
The return of By Malene Birger after six years away from the official Copenhagen runway provided a contrasting highlight. Its comeback represented the strength of established Danish fashion at an anniversary edition increasingly populated by international talent. Refined silhouettes and understated sophistication brought a more mature Scandinavian perspective to a week characterised by colour and experimentation.
Together, INSTITUTION, Collina Strada and By Malene Birger captured Copenhagen Fashion Week’s evolving identity: emerging talent supported through initiatives such as the Zalando Visionary Award, greater international exchange, and the continuing relevance of Scandinavian design heritage. At 20, CPHFW demonstrated that sustainability, craftsmanship and creative ambition can successfully coexist.
