Just like in the world of fashion, in Academia, September means new beginnings. It is synonymous of a new group of students, new classes, and some new faculty as well.
As the Istituto Marangoni embarks on this exciting journey, let’s look at some recent events that happened far away from Miami, at Buenos Aires, Mexico City and New York, it’s been quite the ride!
Southern Cone Visit – ARGENTINA FASHION WEEK
In late August, Istituto Marangoni Miami ventured into the cool world of Argentina Fashion Week for the very first time. This event, considered one of the most interesting fashion weeks on the continent, opened up new horizons for students. The school proudly awarded a scholarship to the “Yo, el Joven Creador de Moda” contest, allowing one talented local to shine at Marangoni Miami.
Furthermore, five Miami students showcased their work, check out Camila Balleste’s world in pink, and Anabel Galuppo’s wavy creations below:
The other student designers that presented their capsule collections were Amelie Oñate, Maria Cacciatore (first image) and Matilde Vasquez.
Vogue Leaders Summit and The 9 Scholarship Dinner
Two Marangoni faculty and staff members, Brenda Díaz de la Vega and Sofía Agostini, were invited to speak at the Vogue Leaders Summit in Mexico City at the beginning of the month, sharing insights on how to find one’s place in the fashion world. They spoke about their careers, of leveraging new technologies, and the evolution of fashion education. Having closed the summit, it was a great opportunity to engage with an eager audience that wanted to take their careers to the next level.
Following the summit, Istituto Marangoni Miami and Vogue Mexico & Latin America hosted a memorable dinner to announce the award of nine scholarships to young talents from across Latin America. Fashion designers, opinion leaders, editors, and other creatives from the local fashion scene were in attendance.
NYFW – The Sprayground Challenge
IMM students were given a unique opportunity to participate in New York Fashion Week, thanks to the Sprayground competition the school has been working on for months. Students took on the creative challenge of designing pieces inspired by Sprayground’s iconic bags with unwavering passion.
The results were nothing short of exceptional, leaving attendees, as well as faculty members Amy Berkowitz, Eyan Allen, Juanita Crary, Keanan Duffty, and our president and CEO Hakan Baykam in awe. This is a show that will be hard to forget.
The fall looks promising with Panama Fashion Week around the corner, graduation on the horizon, and an exciting speaker program making a powerful return. Stay updated on all Istituto Marangoni Miami activities by following on social media below.
