Reflections on Miami Swim Week 2025: A Stylist’s Perspective

Miami Swim Week 2025, which took place May 28 to June 1, turned the city into an extravaganza of beachwear designs and beachlife intent. As “fashion stylist” and active player, visiting this show didn’t have any other meaning than to see first-hand the trends of the near future and the way the “business” functions at present.

Miami Swim Week highlighted the industry’s commitment to diversity and inventiveness. Designers showcased collections that highlighted diverse bodies, ethnicities, and unique styles. The runway included models from many backgrounds, presenting a more realistic and inspiring representation of beauty.

Key Trends Observed

Undersea Inspirations. Marine elements dominated the collections, with seashell decorations, starfish patterns, and aquatic color palettes adding a whimsical element to the designs. This style was spearheaded by brands such as Oceanus and Oséree, which offered pieces that were both nostalgic and current.

High-waisted swim skirts and shorts returned to fashion in a retro-inspired way which brought back vintage charm. Montce and Monday Swimwear adopted this trend by uniting comfort elements with fashionable designs.

Transitional Pieces. Swim cardigans and cover-ups entered the market to show how beachwear could be versatile. Shan and Cupshe introduced beach-to-brunch transition pieces to their collections.

Bold Color Statements. The swimwear industry introduced bold reds and vibrant colors which disrupted the usual swimwear color palette. Azulu and Sigal presented their collections with bold color choices which brought energetic style to the runway.

Crochet and Knit Textures. It was hot outside, but there was that unmissable crochet and knitwear that could be seen on the runways. Designers used crochet to create bikinis, cover-ups, and dresses for an airy beach look.

The intersection of fashion and music was further highlighted by a number of high-profile events that took place during the evening, such as Megan Thee Stallion’s runway debut and her receiving the Cultural Icon Award. This year also saw the launch of the Swimwear Icons Hall of Fame, which honors individuals who have had a significant impact on the swimwear industry.

The 2025 Miami Swim Week served as a fashion event which honored diversity and innovation while showcasing the evolving swimwear narrative. The observed trends demonstrate both current fashion tastes and indicate a wider fashion evolution toward inclusive and versatile clothing. The firsthand experience of these developments as a stylist brought both inspiration and valuable information which I will use to enhance my future styling work.
