So 70’s with MICHAEL KORS

Michael Kors

The last days of New York Fashion Week have been crowned by top designers who made a history among the USA brands and Michael Kors made no exception from the rule. The designer has presented his Fall 2023 collection in New York during the Ready-to-Wear shows and made an excellent “do-it-all” fashion statement.

With love and nostalgia for the 1970s, Michael Kors was at his best with the last collection channeling the American sportswear of the era, with its clean lines and unfussy swagger. It was a tribute paid to the ’70s era through all designs, guests and this season’s muses: Gloria Steinem, Cher, Tina Turner, Lena Horne, Ali McGraw, Jane Fonda, along with a news clipping of Kors’s own mother Joan, who made the paper when she tried to try out for the Philadelphia Eagles.

When Gloria Steinem appeared arm-in-arm with two friends just as the Michael Kors show started, Molly Ringwald, seated across the front row, burst into applause. Ms., the magazine Steinem founded, turned 50 last year, and she herself is nearing 90. While refreshing styles from the 1970s along with rule-breaking elements, the designer reinstated the 2000s belt models and already got a huge waiting list for them.

As Michael Kors stated, the collection was all about an Urban Boemia, the big city glamour mixed with the style from Greenwich Village, the neighbourhood he spent his childhood in. Memories the designer wished to materialize back into present with aplomb and glam.
