DIOR goes to VERSAILLES

A surreal show in another French historical and majestic landmark, Château de Versailles, the DIOR Autumn-Winter 2021 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri unveiled a “Disturbing Beauty” theme inspired by the early fairy tales from French literature.

The Dior collection is enigmatic, mysterious, “a contemporary fusion of fairy tale inspirations and iconic House codes”. The traditional house tweeds, dark tones along with the feminine, sensual white embroidered dresses remind of innocence, mistery and seduction, the main attributes of the 17th and 18th century protagonists of the female-written French fairy-tales.

Filmed mainly in the ethereal Galerie des Glaces from the Château, the entire cast of top models resembled with historical female characters teleported into the present times. A “Disturbing Beauty” feeling as especially the mirrors from the Galerie des Glaces play the role not just of self-admiration but more of facing the reflection of the surrounding reality.
