MOUTON BLANC PARIS

26th of October 2019, Paris – Japanese brand “Mouton Blanc Paris” had its show in Villa Belleville, a former industrial factory now transformed into a residency for artists.

The Brand
Founded in Paris in 2016 by Japanese fashion designer Hakuyo Miya, Mouton Blanc creates women’s ready-to-wear which subtly blends the influence of Japanese traditions, his love for Parisian lifestyle and elegance as well as enchanting stories from Eastern Europe. From his workshop in the heart of Belleville, a historic and artistic neighborhood in Paris, Mouton Blanc focuses on creating elegant and highly detailed pieces, marked with fantasy and poetry. The unique style of Hakuyo Miya’s work lies in the use of intricate lace, astonishing volumes and a constant search for new materials and textures, in a world where traditions meet the unexpected.
Mouton Blanc Paris showcased its first collection for Spring/Summer 18 at Vancouver Fashion Week. Hakuyo Miya then presented his next collections at New York Fashion Week for the next three seasons, in iconic locations like Industria and Pier59 Studios. Mouton Blanc was very proud to organize its first show in Paris on October 26th 2019 to showcase its new collection for Spring/Summer 20. The show was sponsored by Japanese beauty brand Kaino. A whole team of makeup artists and hair stylists came directly from Japan to bring their unique skills and ideas.

The Collection
The Spring/Summer 20 collection is inspired by la bohème, an artistic movement prominent in Paris in the nineteenth century, particularly involved in the lower class neighborhoods of Montmartre and Belleville. Many artists in Paris were living non-traditional lifestyles and brought new ideas through their strong anti-establishment viewpoints. The collection shows many common aspects of Mouton Blanc’s work, like the heavy use of lace and playing with transparency. The pieces are reminiscent of the hippie era, heavily influenced by the European Bohemian movements. Many pieces are made with floral and very organic patterns and pastel colors. Some pieces are even hand-painted. The outfits are ample and comfortable, allowing easy movements, while offering very elegant and feminine silhouettes . The fabrics are flowing freely, accompanying the body of the wearer. The palette of colors, textures and patterns is very large but the collection is harmonious, showing a delicate progression in tones and shapes.

About the designer
Hakuyo Miya was born in Tokyo in 1983. He made his debut in fashion in Paris, where he graduated from the Atelier Chardon Savard. After working a few years in the industry, most notably in Paris, Moscow and Tokyo, he founded his own brand Mouton Blanc (the name comes from the meaning of his written name in Japanese). Hakuyo Miya has been living in Belleville from his first day in Paris and he is very active in the local community. He is always working on bringing out the elegance of his creations in accordance to his principles and beliefs.
