A legendary Italian designer of the 19th century, Elsa Schiaparelli has been one of the most proeminent figures in fashion between the two World Wars along her French rival, Coco Chanel.
Her designs have been inspired by the surrealist current in painting. Her unique vision could not adapt to the fashion flow after the second World War so her couture house had to seal its gates.
It was not earlier than 2013 when the brand Schiaparelli came back to life after a long pause ready to amaze the fashion world again with its creations.
Nowadays the Schiaparelli brand resides in Place Vendôme, Paris, an iconic place in the world’s fashion where the brand initially opened its doors to the public back in the 1930’s.
Since its reopening in 2014, the brand has been present on the catwalks of the Fashion Week in Paris and the year of 2020 made no exception to the rule. The Spring-Summer 2021 collection of Schiaparelli photographed by creative director Daniel Roseberry around Paris and Place Vendôme is a dedication to rebirth of feminity and joy.
The Schiaparelli artistic vision once inspired by the surrealist artists Salvador Dali and Jean Cocteau is still present at the core of each piece created.
Pure, strong colours which are not loud, patterns enriching the materials without tiring the eye of the admirer, classic tailored suits with slight haute-couture accents and rich avant-garde accessories – they are all the ensemble ellements of a legendary brand created more than one hundred years ago, a brand which has exceeded its times and was reborn in the 21st century stronger than ever.
