January 2020 – Fashion season makes a strong 2020 debut with Men Fashion Week in Paris. The city of love and fashion is again the host of a fashion marathon both for established and new designers.

This time we want to focus the reader’s attention on DAVI, a menswear brand launched in 2018 by Davide Marello. Davide has graduated Istituto Maragnoni in Milan and started very early a career in fashion working for top brands like Ter et Bantine, Dirk Bikkembergs, Mila Schon, Giorgio Armani, Gucci and dressing Hollywood actors and actresses like
Ryan Gosling, Michelle Williams, Ethan Hawke, Timothée Chalamet.

Nowadays, Davide showcases his already fourth collection called Hypnos / Bedtime tales during Men Fashion Week in Paris. A collection representing an aethereal journey to the kingdom of the night – a world of peace and dreams, an enveloping, parallel reality. The Fall/Winter 2020/2021 collection draws its inspiration from the myth of Hypnos, the mythological god personifying Sleep, son of the god of Darkness and the goddess of Night.

The collection’s mood is mysteriously nocturnal; it revolves around the shade that embraces flowery ellements when night falls, the dark that lends a new life to colors. It evokes the passing of a threshold between sleep and dreams, the telling of magical bedtime fables and tales, the slow drifting into a state where reality and fantasy merge.

Davi’s prints mix and interact in a carefree and unusual way. Reinterpreted in large brushstrokes, prints comprise a mix of light and majestic feathers; small, overlapping stars in a candid rendition; a floral motive, reminding of an old herbarium; a dream-like, enveloping cloud and abstract, sleeping a cat, symbolic of inner peace, guardian of tranquility, both symbols from ancient Japanese imagery.

Novelty of the collection is the declination of knitwear, featuring chromatic tie-and-dye motives in cold and warm shades of grey and brown.The Fall Winter 2020/2021 collection features Davi’s original printed shirts; oversized reversible bomber jackets; short utility jackets and pants; belted trousers with a wide, contemporary silhouette.

Accessories include the Monarca 01, a lightweight runner shoe inspired by the structure of butterfly wings, and hats designed in collaboration with Francesco Ballestrazzi.

The event was held in a Parisian villa on Boulevard Beaumarchais beautifully decorated to emphasize the mysterious vision of Davide’s collection. Guests formed of magazine editors, models, bloggers, photographers had the chance to get into Davi’s Hypnos fashion world and enjoy a magical ambiance.
