FENDI – New Era of Italian Elegance

The exquisite Italian elegance reinvented: Fendi Fall/Winter 2021-22 Women’s Collection Runway Show

The English designer Kim Jones made his debut for his first Fendi ready to wear show with the Fendi FW21 women’s collection, offering his new perspective on the brand’s heritage.

His third collection for the house speaks about history and tradition. The set of the show is imagined in the ancient Rome built of F-shaped glass vitrines revealing architectural vestiges, but the message of the Michel Gaubert’s soundtrack, “Embrace the future”, is clearly about reimagining a new era… a new vision of the Fendi’s outstanding legacy.

The newly Artistic Director of Couture and Womenswear collections discovers the Fendi house codes paying homage to its inspiring values: founders Adele and Eduardo Fendi, their five daughters and later Karl Lagerfeld: “Karl was a designer that every designer looked up to and I feel privileged to be able to look at his vast archive at Fendi.” – Kim Jones.

The collection is made for the casual woman of today, who would find the outfits useful. It is meant to empower women, to fulfill their needs, to make them feel strong, fresh and amazing while celebrating the classic elegance and transforming it into practical luxury.

Kim Jones’ modern idea of feminine elegance is characterized by sharp silhouettes and simple pieces in monochrome marble shades.

The highlights of the collection are undeniably: the upcycled fox fur, the baguette bag in hardwood, the Fendi First bag with the titled Fendi monogram, the Fendi First shoes defined by an architectural heel inspired by Karl Lagerfeld’s archival sketches, the embossed Selleria stitching which is applied now, not only in matters of tradition on bags and accessories, but also to leather outwear.

Silvia Venturini, the Artistic Director of Accessories and Menswear collections and her daughter Delfina Delettrez, Fendi’s jewelery creative director, are Kim Jones’ creative collaborators for the collection. The Fendi O’Lock jewelry collection was created by Delfina Delettrez exclusively for the Fendi FW21 ready to wear runway show.

The savoir-faire and the traditional workmanship are describing the Fendi FW21 ready to wear women’s collection, each piece being brought to perfection.

The outstanding show was broadcasted digitally on February 24th on the official website Fendi.com and on all Fendi social media platforms. You can still enjoy watching it online if you want to explore all the runway looks as well as some up-close details and behind-the-scenes action.
