Isabel Marant FW21 Women’s Collection – A return to the great Parisian parties
The French luxury brand introduced us to the FW21 Women’s collection on March 5th, during Paris Fashion Week, and the video presentation by film director Simon Cahn was digitally broadcasted on the brand’s official website and on its social media account.
In the middle of the pandemics, the show evokes the nostalgia for past parties, inviting us to evade through an interesting journey in time, that brings us hope for a revival of the lost vibes.
Our common need and desire to dress up and socialize, to rediscover the feeling of freedom is imagined like a mix between visions of the past and projections into the future, that eventually unveils the effortlessly chic spirit of Parisian parties – the Isabel Marant’s signature aesthetic.
Inspired by the folk and libertarian spirit of the 60’s (portrayed by stars like Jimmy Hendrix and Janis Joplin) and by the electronic, techno Gabber scene – a subculture that became extremely popular in the 90’s, this collection is a homage to workmanship and cultural heritage by scrolling through the past tendences.
The past is imagined in fabrics coming from the future, and the collection is very versatile, presenting guipure tops, dresses and shearling boleros in raw materials, decorated belts, psychedelic multicolor floral patterns, leathers, the electric iridescent vinyl and Texan boots matched with oversized sportswear-inspired pieces, embellished with colored yokes.
The show was animated by Gabber Eleganza soundtrack, with folk and techno influences, which created a perfect symbiosis with the location – a brutalist spiral shaped open-air parking in the outer parts of Paris, perfectly describing the designer’s vision.
Mica Argañaraz, Adut Akech, Rianne Van Rompaey, Xu Meen among other models, worn fiercely the runway looks, celebrating the cheerful past and projecting ambitious expectations for the future parties in Paris when we all going to feel again the vibes of the coolness at its best.
