Interview with fashion designer Monika Nendaka, creator and founder of Italian brand MONIKA NDK.
Hello, Monika! First of all we want to wish you and all our female readers a “Happy 8th of March!”. FM24 is proud and happy to know you and have a quick fashionable chat with the person behind the newly released brand, MONIKA NDK. As previously seen in our publication, your brand collection is an haute-couture one which is the result of great work and drive invested in it. Therefore we cannot wait to share your energy with the FM24 community.
Monika Nendaka: Hello, FM24! I am thrilled to answer your questions and get people to know a bit more of Monika Nendaka, the fashion lover.
1.Fashion Magazine 24: Great, Monika! So let’s start with a small personal definition. One word about yourself would be…?
Monika: I would describe myself as passionate. When i choose to work on something, i concentrate all my energy and efforts to get the best result i can have.
2.Fashion Magazine 24: Your definition of “fashion” is…?
Monika: Fashion is for me a personal expression of who we are without the use of words. It’s about creating your identity by finding your own style. When clothes match the sense of who we are , we feel empowered, beautiful and confident.
It embodies a greater sense of purpose than just a garment tossed on to cover bodies. Through fashion you can broadcast a message and help people connect with each other.
3.Fashion Magazine 24: Most fashionable city for you, favourite style/brand and your “MUST” item are …?
Monika: It will be difficult for me to pick up only one city.
In my opinion multicultural cities such as New York , Paris or London are the most fashionable because there is such a variety of style influenced by different cultures. It’s a real celebration of diversity which represents wealth and strength.
I don’t have a favourite style or a must item as it depends on how I feel, where I am and what I’m doing.
4.Fashion Magazine 24: Your wish for the future of the fashion world would be ..?
Monika: I would love to see more women in leadership roles but also equal representations of various body shapes & races.
Embracing diversity should not be a trend but a change that will last forever. It is so important to be reminded that fashion plays an enormous role in shaping how we view and value people.
The industry should be more inclusive by giving more opportunity to ethnic minorities to take on positions of power such as creative director, editor in chief, photographer etc. So we can all have a chance to contribute in meaningful ways.
The color of our skin does not translate to talent, passion, or work ethic.
FM24: Thank you, Monika! Your answers are inspiring and are the best empowering gift on this day dedicated to women everywhere. We do believe in a future where women are more and more present in leadership roles and where diversity is a continuous source of beauty and power for all industries, expecially the creative ones like fashion.
