Scarf-up your life!

10 mistakes when combining scarves with clothes

A scarf is a wardrobe item, an accessory that will warm you up in the cold season and add style to your look in the warm season. The main thing – as in everything else – is to wear it correctly and correctly combine it with clothes. Remember that a scarf is always in sight, and any flaws will be very noticeable to others.

Let’s look at the main mistakes of combining a scarf with clothes. Maybe you have no idea that you are wearing the accessory incorrectly.

Mistake 1. A tube scarf over a tight sweater

A giant knitted tube scarf combined with a narrow top visually enlarges the neck, not to mention that it looks ridiculous and strange. Choose an accessory made of fine yarn that can easily hide under outerwear if you like such a scarf.

Mistake 2. Tightly tightened scarf

A too tightly tightened scarf around the neck or a short puffy scarf tied in a tight knot looks like a bow on the neck of Leopold, the cat from the famous Soviet cartoon. Moreover, it distorts the proportions in the image. Choosing a wide scarf and throwing it over the coat would be more correct. It is better to opt for a wide quilted scarf, which, like a shawl, can be casually thrown over a coat and thus add lightness and chic.

Mistake 3. Too big scarf

If you wrap a massive scarf around your neck, consider that you have halved your height. This is contraindicated for short girls. A much more elegant and relevant scarf will look under the strap in the style of a poncho or cape.

Also, do not wrap yourself in a massive scarf if, for example, you are wearing a leather jacket. There is a contrast, and people around you will want to warm you. The scarf should be used as an adornment; wearing it is easy and casual.

Mistake 4. Incorrect combination of a scarf and a hat.

The hat and scarf should be friends in shade and mood. Textured knitted caps do not look good with thin, light scarves. But a set of hats plus a scarf of the same color and texture is no longer fashionable. Choosing one surface and one color is better, but different shades.

Mistake 5. Combining an active scarf with a variegated top

Nowadays, scarves with logos and inscriptions are becoming more and more relevant. They make the everyday look cool! But they look great only against a calm background. Remember, the more complex the scarf, the more concise your coat, jacket, or down jacket should be.

Mistake 6. Wrong scarf color

The scarf should be the only bright accent in the image or repeat the color of one of the image elements (any other than the hat). Accessories that match the print on the clothes look very stylish.

In addition, a scarf is an accessory that is as close to the face as possible, so the color of the scarf is essential. If you hardly wear makeup, bright scarves are contraindicated for you, especially blue and red; they will only accentuate redness and “bruises” under the eyes. But natural pastel shades will add freshness to the face. Choose the shadow of the scarf following your color type, and you will not go wrong.

Mistake 7. One scarf for all occasions

Having one scarf in your wardrobe is wrong, especially if your closet is diverse. For example, completely different scarves are suitable for a sporty or elegant look. For a classic coat – a fringed cashmere scarf, for a down jacket – a denser woolen scarf, or even a puffy scarf that is so popular in winter 2022.

Mistake 8. The scarf is out of season

Lightweight, thin, literally light scarves do not need to be worn in winter or even late autumn. Scarves that are too small look out of place against the background of bulky winter outerwear. In winter, the primary purpose of a scarf is to warm it up, so an accessory made of dense material, preferably with the addition of wool or cashmere, is best suited. Such a scarf will warm and protect you from the cold wind.

Mistake 9. Poor quality scarf

Style is in the details: a poor quality scarf will make the whole look messy. Get rid of the scarf if there are pellets, stains, and folds not ironed out. And always tidy up the accessory before going out.

Mistake 10. Difficultly knotted scarf

There are a thousand and one ways to tie a scarf, but they are all a thing of the past. Nowadays, the most simple sock of an accessory is actual and fashionable. Throw a long scarf around your neck so that both ends hang freely, and if you need to close off the wind, wrap the scarf around your neck once and throw lots of the fabric forward. And the most effective way is to casually throw one end of the scarf back while, so that the accessory does not fall off, you can fix it with a small pin.

Avoid the listed mistakes, have several scarves of different textures and shades in your arsenal, and your image will always be solid and bright. At any time of the year, you will be fashionable and stylish.
