Summer trends still ON!

12 Summer Trends in 2024 – It sounds like Summer 2024 is still on and will continue take over particularly well in the fashion circuit.

This season is all about some fun and novelty, from intense hues to new materials. As a fashion journalist and after years of being an industry guest and runway show voyeur during Fashion Weeks across the globe – I’m thrilled to share with you the top fashion trends that are set to dominate the summer scene.

For one, comfort, elegance, and a dash of nostalgia are the main themes this season when it comes to modern interpretations of timeless designs.

Let’s take a look at our top picks for keeping your wardrobe on point.

1. The White Dress

Designers are moving away from the usual bright spring colors and toward dresses in swan-white. Brands like Prada and Tove are driving the way with staggering pieces that reach from sheer and transparent to weaved and thickly worked.

2. Metallic Bags

Give your outfit some sparkle with metallic bags. Whether you’re going to a party or just running errands, these accessories are perfect for adding glam to any outfit. To keep things protean, choose tones in gold, silver, or bronze.

3. Slim Sneakers

Sportier, slimmer sneakers are taking the place of chunky sneakers. These trainers give off a casual, lived-in look when worn with summer dresses or loose pants. Try something new with newer brands like Alohas or stick with old favorites like Adidas and Puma.

4. High Waist Pants

Say hello to pants with a high waist. This season, pants have a built-in corset that goes all the way up under the bust. What’s better? They instantly lengthen your legs, giving you a figure that looks good on you. These trousers are a versatile addition to your summer wardrobe because they can be worn with either a cropped top or a blouse that is tucked in.

5. Transparent Skirts

This spring and summer, sheer skirts are taking center stage. You can wear this raunchy look day or night. If the sheer texture feels excessively brave, double up with sheer layers and add a bomber jacket and chunky belt for a better outfit. Adopting a daring yet chic aesthetic is everything.

6.  Statement Belts and Raffia Accessories

Statement belts are back and more popular than ever. For an elevated appearance, wear one with a dress for wedding guests or jeans with wide legs. This straightforward accessory can elevate your ensemble from ordinary to exceptional. In addition, raffia is having a major moment this summer. From bags to shoes, this woven material adds a vacation-ready vibe to any outfit. Don’t be afraid to pile on the raffia; it’s all about texture and making a statement.

7. Butter Yellow

Butter yellow is the shade of the year. This unexpected neutral is suitable for both color lovers and monochromatic dressers because it goes with anything. This color will never go out of style, whether you wear separates or a pale yellow dress.

8. The Polo Top

The humble polo top is making a major comeback. This classic collared style is paired with everything from men’s board shorts and ruffled micro-mini skirts to gold brocade shift dresses and sequin-embellished blouses. The key to nailing this look is effortless styling—just muss up your hair a bit for a laid-back vibe.

9. Mary Jane Kitten Heels

Mary Jane’s Kitten heels are an evolution of ballet flats that provide additional support and a personal touch. The trendy materials and colors of these flats make them the ideal addition to your summer ensemble. Also, kitten heels are making a comeback as an alternative that is still chic and suitable for walking. Get ahead of the trend and give your feet a break by wearing low heels from Prada, Rachel Comey, and Valentino.

10. Shimmer and Shine Minimalistic Looks

This season is all about sparkle, whether it’s in lamé gowns or sequined separates. With metallics, rhinestones, and paillettes, you can channel your inner disco queen. For a balanced look, wear eye-catching pieces with plain jeans or T-shirts. Besides, minimalism and stealth wealth are as yet continuing forward. It’s all the rage to wear glamorous, simple outfits with just enough personality. Think high-waisted jeans, draping tank tops, sharp blazers, and slim loafers. Everything boils down to effortless class.

11. ’90s Staples

The ’90s are back in a big way. With the world leaning towards minimalism amid economic uncertainty, bold colors and logos are stepping aside for understated elegance. Think camel pencil skirts, grey tailoring, white shirts, and boyfriend-style jeans. This cool-headed minimalism is the perfect sartorial response to today’s tumultuous times.

12. Modern Flapper Dresses

With modern flapper dresses, you can channel your inner baby vamp from the 1920s. These dresses have drop-waist designs, gilded fringing, and shimmering headpieces, and are embellished with crystals, metal fringing, and shiny grommets. For a modern take on a classic look, pair them with blazers or barn jackets made of leather.

A sweet and seductive appearance makes these trends ideal for afternoon cocktails or garden parties. Match them with fine gems and walking shoes, slingback heels, or summer tennis shoes for a pragmatic yet a la mode look.

Fashion enthusiasts, there you have it! It looks like summer 2024 will be a season of new fashions and stylish revivals. As you revamp your wardrobe and step out in style, keep these picks in mind.
