5th of October 2020, Paris, France – Paris is one of the world’s fashion “headquarters”, an infinite source of art and creativity. It is no surprise anymore that every Fashion Week unveils along with designer collections, new works of art inspired by the times we are living.
An exhibit of Helmut Lang about the contemporary eco-friendly necessities of our society has welcomed us right in the Saint Laurent Rive Droite shop from Rue Saint Honore.
Among the YSL fashion garments in the shop, Anthony Vaccarello, the creation director from Yves Saint Laurent, exposed a set of minimalist sculptures created by Helmut Lang for which the YSL representatives offer an explanatory tour of the expo.
Concerned with the nowadays highlights of society like sustainability, durability and respect for the environment, Anthony found a perfect partner in the person of Helmut Lang to expand his partnerships and also spread a strong social message through a “visual story”.
The set of sculptures are made of raw and left-out YSL materials to which a new life had been given. Pieces of materials used in YSL clothes, accessory prototypes, unfinished accessories and discarded jewelries have been shredded, mixed with black resine and aluminium to create new objects like a flower, a row of 15 columns, a black rug representing “metaphorically” our beautiful planet. You can even spot the YSL logo blended on the columns with bag chains, jewelries and other materials.
A metaphorical YSL expo of objects brought to life from unused materials, all “shouting” about the transformation of the past into a bright future.
